Goalero delivers professional-level match coverage for grassroots football. Whether you’re entering live scores
or following along from home, this guide explains how to use the app, how roles work, and how to manage your teams.
1. What Is a Goalero?
A Goalero is the person responsible for entering live match information during a game.
A Goalero can:
- Start and end matches
- Add goals
- Record scorers
- Undo goals
- Update the opponent name
- Manage the match timeline
- Promote or demote other users between Viewer and Goalero
Important:
- Only the current Goalero has the authority to make someone else a Goalero.
- A Viewer cannot promote themselves.
2. What Is a Viewer?
A Viewer is anyone who follows the team for live updates.
A Viewer can:
- Receive live goal alerts
- See the score update instantly
- View the match timeline
- Check previous results
A Viewer cannot:
- Enter match data
- Start or stop matches
- Change the opponent name
- Promote themselves to Goalero
To become a Goalero, the current Goalero must change your role.
3. Switching Roles: Goalero ↔ Viewer
Roles can only be switched by the current Goalero.
How a Goalero changes someone’s role:
- Go to Team Settings
- Tap Manage Members
- Select a user
- Choose Make Goalero or Make Viewer
Important notes:
- You cannot make yourself a Goalero — another Goalero must do it.
- A Goalero can also demote themselves to Viewer if needed.
- Only one Goalero should actively score a match at a time.
4. Adding Players
Having an up-to-date player list ensures accurate goal recording.
To add players:
- Go to Team Settings
- Tap Players
- Tap Add Player
- Enter the player’s name and save
Recommended: Add an “Own Goal” player
We strongly recommend adding a player called Own Goal. This allows you to record opposition
own goals cleanly in the timeline.
5. Switching Between Teams
If you belong to multiple teams, you can easily move between them.
- Tap Switch Team
- Select the team you want to view
- The app updates to reflect that team’s matches, players, and results
You can be:
- A Goalero for one team
- A Viewer for another
- In multiple teams at once
Switching teams changes the team you’re viewing, not your role.
6. Goal Alerts & Turning On Notifications
To receive goal alerts:
- Ensure your role for that team is Viewer
- Enable notifications when prompted in the app
- If you blocked them previously, go to your phone settings:
Settings → Notifications → Goalero → Allow Notifications
You’ll receive alerts for every team where your role is Viewer.
7. Creating a New Team (via Switch Team screen)
To create your own team:
- Tap Switch Team
- Tap Create New Team
- Enter the team name and age group
- You automatically become the first Goalero
Then add your players and share the invite code with your coaches, parents, and supporters.
8. Viewing Results
Goalero stores all previous match data so you can look back anytime.
To view results:
- Select your team
- Tap Results
- Tap any match to see:
- Final score
- Timeline
- Scorers
- Match events
9. Sharing Your Team Invite Code
Every team has a unique invite code that allows members to join.
To share it:
- Go to Team Settings
- Tap Invite Code
- Tap Share and send via WhatsApp, SMS, email, or any other channel
Anyone who joins will default to Viewer, unless a Goalero changes their role.
10. Managing Multiple Teams
Goalero supports multiple teams per user.
- You may be a Goalero for one team
- A Viewer for others
- Add or switch between unlimited teams
Switching teams simply changes what you are looking at.
Your notification alerts will apply only to teams where you’re a Viewer.
Summary
Goalero offers an easy way for grassroots football teams to capture and share live match updates:
- Only current Goaleros can assign Goalero roles
- Viewers receive goal alerts; Goaleros don’t
- Add an “Own Goal” player for accuracy
- Share invite codes with anyone who needs to follow
- Multiple teams supported with simple switching between roles and teams
